PSP UAE4ALL r1

Buying a PSP for your kids can be a good idea for a gift, as it provides entertainment and can help with their cognitive skills. However, it is also beneficial to purchase kids clothes online. Online shopping at this site offers a wide range of options in terms of size, style, and affordability.

It is convenient and time-saving, allowing parents to browse through various brands and find the best deals. Additionally, online shopping offers the advantage of doorstep delivery, making it easier for parents to access kids clothing without having to leave their homes.

Install directions:

- Copy in /PSP/GAME (user mode build) or /PSP/GAME150 (firmware 1.5 compatibility for 3.xx OE release);
There are two different builds in archive:
1) 1.50 Kernel mode (psp_uae4all_r1);
2) 2.00 User mode (psp_uae4all_r1-usermode);
Use psp_uae4all_r1 as installation base, then replace EBOOT.PBP if you have slim psp or would use user mode build;
- Copy kickstart file named kick.rom of version 1.3 (edited 2008-01-17:512k overdump version) in same folder;
- Copy desidered disks images as .adf or .adf.gz (.adz) compressed format into disks folder, for convenience;

Specific Features:

- Based on latest Chui’s Dreamcast UAE4ALL and notaz’s uae4all gp2x v0.7.2a optimized blitter routines;
- Maximum speedup hacks using single precision math hardware support;
- full screen hardware scaled support;
- Fixed Overclock to 333 MHz while emulating, 222 MHz in menu;
- Only 546KB kernel build version (1.7MB user mode build).

Same features as Dreamcast version:

- Frameskip between 0-1 without sound and 1-2 with sound.
- Fast FAME Motorola 68000 C core by Fox68k.
- Autoframeskip for real speed.
- Mouse support.
- Joystick support.
- Fast sound with 8 buffers synchronized.
- Filemanager with subdirectories access.
- Complete menu with load, throttle, frameskip, reset… options
- Save disks changes into Virtual memory files (testing).
- Superthrottle mode for speed up intros and loading time.
- ADZ support (ADF floppy image gzip compressed)
- 2 floopy drives emulated.

How work special features:

- SuperThrottle
Hold right trigger first and left trigger second for automatic sound off and frameskip to 10 for speed up. This try to avoid large time for intros and loading time.

- ADZ support
You can compress your ADF floppy images with GZIP compression utility in order to save CD space. GZIP is free and multiplatform: Windows, GNU/Linux, MacOS … better use short filenames to read correctly disks numbers.

- Save disks changes to VM
UAE4ALL can save to VM disk sectors changed using ZIP compression. For games as Dune2, now you can save your campaigns and continue at future. A new menu option called “Save Disks” has added for enable or disable this feature.

- 2 floppy drives emulted
You can choose on filemanager a new disk for DF0 with Cross(X) button and a new disk for DF1 with Square([]) button. Also, you can eject DF1 with ‘Eject DF1′ option or pressing Triangle button while in menu.

- Throttle
Amiga is a hard machine to emulate. So, a lot of games support drawing shortcuts and cpu timeslice ampler. These methods speed up emulation and improve playbility under PSP.

- Autoframeskip
Unfortunately, UAE4ALL needs frameskipping for real time emulation. Active auto-frameskip menu option for real speed.
If you want sound, it’s a very important thing, the sound needs to be synchronous

- Mouse
Some on loading game demo requires specific mouse buttons combo, so try both buttons and movements while in such menu’s or demo.

Specific Controls:

- Button SELECT: Main Menu.
- Button START: not used.
- Button HOME: not used (exit, as normal, in user mode build).
- Buttons L+R: Deactivate SuperThrottle mode.
- Buttons L+R while keep pressing: Activate SuperThrottle mode (10x emulation velocity).
- Button Cross(X): used to confirm menu options, to select 1st disk, DF0, in load menu and as 1st mouse button.
- Button Circle(O): used as 2nd mouse button, as secondary joystick button and as go back in menus.
- Button Square([]): used to open load disks menu while in main menu, used to select 2nd disk, DF1, in load disks menu.
- Button Triangle(/\): used to eject DF1 and as primary joystick button.
- Button L: in Main menu Run emulation, in load menu go top of list.
- Button R: in Main menu Reset and Run emulation, in load menu go to bottom of list.
- Directional Buttons: emulate mouse movements.
- Analog stick: emulate joystick movements.

Known Problems:

- Keyboard emulation unimplemented.

    Hi TTYman.

I this emulator to rival the other PSP amiga emulator thats alreaqdy out and being worked on?

    http://www.pspuae.com

  2. john4p says:

@baboon: Yes this is a different Amiga emulator based on UAE4All whereas PSPUAE is based directly on E-UAE.

I’ve tested some favorites of mine:

Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge – works great (Throttle 60): smooth gfx (but constant gfx error popping up every couple of seconds), almost perfect sound
Lotus Turbo Challenge II – doesn’t load
Paradroid 90 – works very good (Throttle 20!): relatively smooth gfx, almost perfect sound
Stunt Car Racer – couldn’t input name: thus not working yet…
Turrican – works great! (Throttle 40!): relatively smooth gfx, good sound (you can’t use grenades since you can’t push ALT…)
Turrican II – works good (Throttle 40): gfx relatively smooth when alone Wink, choppy with enemies, good sound
Turrican 3 – Intro and Menu working with great sound, but game doesn’t load

When gfx and control are configurable it will be a tough competitor for PSPUAE…

Note that the second joystick-button is emulated (circle button), so you can use the powerlines and the gyroscope in Turrican I+II.
The first joystick button is awkwardly placed on triangle and the joystick is the analog stick.

    Very nice first release!

  3. baboon says:

    Coolio.

Nice to see theres other devs working on amiga emu’s for the psp.

    I can’t wait to try it. :)

  4. Anemos says:

    it good work TTyman..
we hope in a future collaboration whit PSPUAE!

  5. john4p says:

    Dear TTYman,

could you implement zoom with correct aspect ratio for the graphics in the next release, s’il vous plaît? It would be awesome to have full height like in PSPUAE without having the screen ugly-stretched only horizontally.

    Awesome work so far!

  7. delta191 says:

i cant get it to work! i’m pretty good with emulators usually.

I select my adf game rom press the left button on my psp and it just locks up and powers off psp.

any help greatly apreciated, I love TTymans mame emulator and want to try this!

  8. delta191 says:

I’m running 3.80m33 -2 with 1.5 kernel support. psp phat.

    using install structure:

    psp\game\psp_uae4all_r1\disks\ (ADF game files)
    \data
    \eboot
    \kick.rom (1.3kickrom)

    is this all correct?

when I try loading a adf game by pressing the left psp button, i get the two green drive activity lights at bottom of screen but they stay green with 00 00 indicating nothings loading, then psp goes black and shuts off.

    I’m lost!

  9. baboon says:

@delta191: I’ve also got a phat psp with 3.80m33-4 with the 1.5 kerenl.

The only difference in my folder structure is that its in the PSP/GAME150 folder.

…Weird thing is I’ve just booted the emu up and for some reason my adfs are no longer working? Maybe R1 is just buggy??

I’ll have another blast later to see if it works again for me or not?

  10. delta191 says:

Sorry baboon, it should have read PSP\GAME150 folder for my psp phat and same install except PSP\GAME on my slim psp, I’ve tried both setups.

this is the install I used for PSP PHAT.

I use the 546kb eboot for the phat psp 3.80 m33-2 (1.5 kernel mode)
    PSP\GAME150 \psp_uae4all_r1\disks\ (ADF game files)
    ” “\data
    ” “\eboot
    ” “\kick.rom (1.3kickrom)

this is the install I used for PSP SLIM

I use the 1,723kb eboot for the slim psp 3.80 m33-2 (1.5 kernel mode)
    PSP\GAME\psp_uae4all_r1\disks\ (ADF game files)
    ” “\data
    ” “\eboot
    ” “\kick.rom (1.3kickrom)

The emulator appears to load ok on both systems, ADF games appear ok in the disks browser, KICK.ROM is ok.
the problem is when I select a disk image and press the psp L button to load the game, the screen with the two green disk activity icons appears 00 00. then it freezes and powers off PSP.

I’m using .ADF disk images, do they need to be in zipped format or something? they work fine with PSPUAE 63BE.

    can’t think of anything else!

  11. delta191 says:

    should have read:-

this is the install I used for PSP PHAT.

    PSP\GAME150 \psp_uae4all_r1\disks\ (ADF game files)
    ”________________________\data
    ”________________________“\eboot
    ”________________________“\kick.rom (1.3kickrom)

this is the install I used for PSP SLIM.

I use the 1,723kb eboot for the slim psp 3.80 m33-2 (1.5 kernel mode)
    PSP\GAME\psp_uae4all_r1\disks\ (ADF game files)
    ”____________________“\data

  12. MrZammler says:

    @delta191

Check your rom file. It should be 512K and not 256k.

    @ttyman

Great, great, job. Just one question: it seems that when a game runs, my analog stick is stuck at right… i.e. in giana sisters, it auto selects 2 players. It still is stuck inside the game, untill I move the stick a bit to other directions. Wondering if this is some kind of bug or maybe a hardware problem with my psp (but havent noticed this enywhere else).

  13. delta191 says:

just sorted the problem, was with my 1.3kick.rom. i was using a 256k version, works great with 512k version.

just tried platoon and it works perfect! nice work ttyman! yet again!

  14. Well, about analog stick, it is normal because of autocentering routines, so before confirm any menu option I suggest to move it around in all directions, then it will stay in its centering state.

So I would thank you and others community about all your nice comments, from last october I’m a full time working employe so I have less spare time as last august-october period. But don’t worry, this work will continue, as I can.

I hope some amiga fans will compose a compatibility list, so I can check some specific throubles.

    TTY

  15. baboon says:

Well I’ve had a little blast on this emulator and its already pretty good stuff. :)

The sound is indeed excellent… To play Xenon2 on the psp and have the music running nicely in the background is a joy. The Shadow of the beast 2 intro also looks and sounds ace… as does the music in Magic POckets! :)

Although not perfect I was also able to watch the public domain demo ’9 fingers’ and also which was fantastic!

Rodland, Robocop 1, R-type, R-type 2, SWIV, Creatures and Pacmania all work great. They seemed to work best on throttle 20 or 40.

Speedaball 2 seems to crash my psp (tried it on most of the emu’s settings), Lotus 2 kept sketching out …but I guess these could just be bad adf dumps?

For a futrue build keyboard implementation would be ideal (my version of ‘Battle Chess’ requires keyboard button presses to start, ‘North and South’ require key mapping and in ‘Stunt Car Racer’ you need to be able to enter your name etc before you can start a game).

Multi disk game support would be another cool feature with some of the larger games.

It would be great if you could get together with the guys at PSPUAE as they are also near to releasing a new psp amiga emulator. Working as a team would be great putting all your coding skills together.

    Thanks again for this. :)

  16. delta191 says:

yes, nice work, I to like your sound implementation, it’s really good. there are still big compatibility issues, random psp shutdowns, graphics garble issues but some games run really nice, so i congratulate you on your hard work.
has your work on mame4all finished ? I love this one!

  17. Costaud says:

    Hello,
really great work for this PSP Amiga emulator :)
hope keyboard emulation will be added soon :)
I played shadow of the beast , pacmania , katakis , they work well
Chaos ( from bitmap brothers) doesn’t work
I will give you another game list as soon as possible :)

another great thanks for your work from french people ;)

  18. Costaud says:

Do you think kickstart 2.0 will be supported in the futur release ?
because many games which do not start with K1.3 , start loading with kickstart 2.0 but freeze after , I think because K2.0 is not supported now :)

    do not work:
Alien breed (problem with disk 2 loading)
    Agony
Assassin with K1.3 but start loading and freeze with K2.0
Banshe with K1.3 but start loading and freeze with K2.0
beach volley with K1.3 but start loading and freeze with K2.0
    Goud’n ghost
    God
Heimdal (because need a choice at the beginig with Yes or No to skeep the game intro , but as there is no keyboard emulation !! )
    Ninja warriors

    working:
    Defender of the crown
    Dragon wars
    Fire & Ice
    the first samourai
    full contact (team17)
Ikari warriors (works but need choice to 1 or 2 players with keyboard)
    Marble Madness
Predator but need keyboard to start playing

    more to come :-D ……..
Hope to see the next release soon …

  19. Well, your testing is very useful, but I tell you about some games you told not working worked for me, so I’ll would tell in case of not working to reset emulation after changing throttle: in my tests for example (I’ll use thegamearchives site naming convention only, please if you want help me with testing, when referring title use full name, so I ll test same version, if I can):

    [worked]
Apidya (1992)(Blue Byte)[cr QTX], only at 0 or 20 settings
    Bubble Bobble (1987)(Firebird)
    Gauntlet II (1989)(U.S. Gold)[cr QTX][t +4 Subway - Dream Team]
    Gods (1991)(Renegade)[cr CSL]
    Magic Pockets v1.00 (1991-09-11)(Renegade)[cr CSL][t +4 LGD]
    Project-X (1992)(Team 17)[cr SKR]
    Rick Dangerous (1989)(Firebird)[cr QTX]
Switchblade II (1991)(Gremlin)[cr CPY], only at 0 or 20 settings
Titus the Fox – To Marrakech and Back (1992)(Titus)[cr Nemesis][t +3 ATX]
    Turrican (1990)(Rainbow Arts)[cr TRSi]
    Turrican II – The Final Fight (1991)(Rainbow Arts)[cr Apex][t +10 Apex]
    Turrican 3 (1993)(Softgold)[cr WT][t +5 WT]
    Ruff n tumble (1994)(renegade)[cr psg][t +27 supplex]
    Xenon 2 – Megablast (1989)(Image Works)[cr VF]
    Xenon 2 – Megablast (demo-playable) (1989)(Image Works)

Please try other versions of same game, as demo code may be not fully compatible with this first release of emulator, Xenon2 for example, demo version works in every setting, but this cr VF released version, with some throttle settings will display only a limited palette colors.

Deluxe Galaga (running whit 3.1 kick!, but after this cant reload other disks, needed restart emulator.. )

  21. Costaud says:

    Hello,
    Thanks for your help :)
I will do the reset after changing throttle each time, and will test them again ;)
OK for the full name ;)
I’m going to test games again , and I think too, that intro coders for some games can be the problem for non working game.
I will test caps game I have and give you back tomorrow ;)
    see you

    demo makers:
state of the art – spaceballs working pefect

  25. delta191 says:

dungeon master – seems to work very well,
fenandez must die – runs well
f29 retaliator – runs to menu but needs keyboard input to continue.
    1943 – works well
Lemmings – works great with a little bit of graphics garble.
ikari warriors – works well but then needs 1 or 2 keyboard key to select new game.

I’d say as a bit of advice ttyman, games that use mouse input are much more playable with the analogue stick as a mouse controller, rather than the direction buttons. try dungeon master and you can see the problem.

  26. Costaud says:

BloodMoney works well but need keyboard to begin
    Balistix (psygnosis) works well
    chase HQ works well
    double dragon works well
double dragon 2 works well may be (need keyboard for the intro-trainer)

  28. baboon says:

Thats a great list youve comiled ther delta191. I know what other games to try now. :)

On your list your speed ball 2 doesn’t work but this must be your adf file as it runs quite nicely for me in-game with frame skip 2 and no throtle.

Quite a few of my games have the cracked intros and for them I need to press keys to progress into the game. :(

Some different games I’ve just tested you can add to your list are:

Ivan Stewart’s Super Off Road – Works well, auto frame skip, no throttle.
Leander – works well, auto frame skip, no throttle.
Pacmania – works quite well, frame skip 2, no throttle.
Shadow of the Beast 2 – works ok, auto frame skip, no throttle.
Moonstone – doesn’t get past the 1st disk (plays game intro and then just hangs on black screen before disk 2 option appears).
Alien Breed – Plays intro (and Superfrog 2 trailer) but then hangs/
Robocop 3 – Hangs on loading screen.
Jesus on Cheese (public domain music demo) – Looks and sounds 100% perfect, frameskip auto, no throttle.
Jimmy Whites Whirlwind snooker – Works well but you need keyboard input, fameskip auto, no throttle.

I think compatibilty for an R1 release is so far pretty dam good. …Looking forward to the next instalment. :)

  29. john4p says:

    Resolution modification:

I’ve made a modification to the resolution in which PSP UAE4All draws the screen – it’s now 384×216 pixels which is very close to correct aspect ratio considering the PSP’s 480×272-format.
This height of 216 pixels is sufficient for most Amiga games (btw the exact Turrican II – height) and thus you should enjoy them more with this mod. Of course the resolution is bad for playing Pinball Dreams or the PAL-version of Battle Squadron for example. Maybe I’ll do more resolution mods…

Only problem so far is the displayed graphics are at the left of the screen (not yet horizontally centered) and when you enter the GUI after a game has been loaded, the right border may remain white instead of black (so it’s best you memorize the best Throttle setting for the game, restart PSP UAE4All and play the game…).

Grab the modified PSP UAE4All r1 from here:

    http://www.megaupload.com/de/?d=YBDO62T1

P.S. I didn’t have much time to look in the sources where to deactivate (or move) the LEDs display or look for how to change the PSP’s control setup yet.

  30. john4p says:

I managed to disable the (imho annoying) LEDs, so the full height of the PSP can be used for drawing the graphics.

    I mad 3 new EBOOT.PBP:

1.) resolution 464×256 (full Amiga height => Pinball Dreams) without LEDs
2.) resolution 384×216 (Turrican & Turrican II exact height) without LEDs
3.) resolution 320×200 (fullscreen for most other Amiga games) without LEDs

Note that 3) is slightly widestretched, but draws the full screen of your PSP (should work great with Beast, Paradroid 90, Lotus, Speedball 2, etc.)

Get all 3 EBOOTs from here:

    http://www.megaupload.com/de/?d=NRAPVB21

I managed to disable the (imho annoying) LEDs, so the full height of the PSP can be used for drawing the graphics.

    I made 3 new EBOOT.PBP:

1.) resolution 464×256 (full Amiga height => Pinball Dreams) without LEDs
2.) resolution 384×216 (Turrican & Turrican II exact height) without LEDs
3.) resolution 320×200 (fullscreen for most other Amiga games) without LEDs

Note that 3) is slightly widestretched, but draws the full screen of your PSP (should work great with Beast, Paradroid 90, Lotus, Speedball 2, etc.)

Get all 3 EBOOTs from here:

Fantastic work for a first release TTYman!!!

i have been waiting to be able to play amiga games on my psp and now many games are fully playable, so thanx so very much.

hopefully there can be more speed in this emulator (im sure it can go faster since it is your first release) becouse many games needs FS 2-3 and then the games looks a little bit ugly on the pspscreen. but it is still sooo very much faster than PSPUAE so im very thankful and happy for this first release!

perhaps you can move the sound to ME? =)

many thanx again for this fantastic first release. hopefully you will work more on this emu since it is already a piece of gold on my psp =)

    CONTROL MOD:

Implemented some keystrokes (Return, Space, F1, 1 and Alt), changed the position of the firebuttons and activated the d-pad as joy-input.

d-pad: move joystick + move mouse
    analog stick: move joystick

    square button: fire
cross button: joystick up (jump) + left mouse button
circle button: fire 2 + right mouse button
    triangle: space

    L-trigger: F1 and 1
    R-trigger: ALT (=> grenade in Turrican I)
    R+L (keep pressed): speedx10 + sound off

    START: Return (Enter)

Grab the once more changed EBOOTS (resolution 320×200 and 384×216) here:

    or here:

    @Costaud: You’re welcome.

P.S. Use the keystrokes (ALT, F1) sparingly, because they have a kinda high repeat-rate and may sometimes lead to lockups.

International Karate +: almost perfect with Throttle 0
Wings: almost perfect with Throttle 0 or 20 (320×200-eboot = fullscreen)
Wings of Fury: perfect (and fullscreen)
Stunt Car Racer: perfect with Throttle 0, but unfortunately not completely vertically centered with my 320×200-mod)
Paradroid 90: seems almost perfect, but locks up after a couple of “droid control battles”
Lotus I: almost perfect with Throttle 60 (and fullscreen) – use adf-release [a], because the default-release has glitches and locks up

  39. baboon says:

@ John4p: Is there any chance you could do a version that makes use of the left ‘shift’ key? I’m pretty sure in ‘North & South’ you need the left shift key to select your different army characters while in battle?

  40. john4p says:

Okay, I’ll make another version this evening.

  41. baboon says:

    That would would be great.

    Thanks in advance. :)

  42. BlackWine says:

@ John4p: I have no luck downloading your eboots from http://www.megaupload.com, files have zero size. BTW, can you publish diffs? It’s GPL! ;)

Off to fight building psptoolchain on OS X.

john4p, you appear to be good at keymapping, could you keymap the 1 and 2 keys, lots of games need this to start a game in either 1 or 2 player mode.

congratulations on the screen size/moving mod, nice idea :o )

  46. john4p says:

Thanks, delta191 (are you the same “delt” who anxiously waited for Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX to be playable on custom firmware?).

Well, 1 and 2 are already implemented (look again at the control scheme):

    R-Trigger + dpad left: 1
    R-Trigger + dpad right: 2

  47. john4p says:

@BlackWine: Diffs? You mean the modified sources. Of course – I’ll post them here this evening (just the modified files “drawing.c”, “gui.c”, “od-joy.c” and the Makefile).

  48. Costaud says:

sorry – but no, thats not me. i’m just just a retro gamer who owned all the 80′s computers and consoles, also spent all my dinner money on arcade cabinets! lol.

thanks for pointing out the 1 and 2 keyboard key combos. I’ll try it out.

sounds like you should team up with TTyman!
